Donate from an IRA

Donors at least age 70 1/2 with an IRA account can support Surmang Foundation with no federal tax penalties by taking advantage of a new tax law. Donors can contribute as much as they want (up to a $100,000 annual limit) from an IRA account. The amount must be transferred directly to Surmang Foundation and is excluded from federally-taxable income for the year. However, no charitable contribution deduction is permitted. Even those who do not itemize are permitted to take advantage of this new law.

The rules apply to withdrawals and contributions made through Dec. 31, 2007. You can download, fill in and print a form to direct your IRA manager to transfer your gift by clicking IRA form; download instructions for the form.

If you have questions or comments regarding contributions, please contact Juliet Carpenter at (303)459-9030 or email us at info@surmang.org.
